Uongozi currently has growing partnership with the following organizations and institutions:

Oikos Italy
http://www.oikos.org

Uongozi is collaborating with Oikos Italy to host volunteers from Italy and the rest of Europe. Uongozi organizes work camps for volunteers on the areas of HIV/AIDS, Environment, Disability and Food security. The project sites are in Kibwezi, Taita, Kilifi and Kajiado districts. We have both short term work camps from two weeks to one month and long term projects from three to twelve months. We would like to build this program through with other volunteer based organizations because we believe volunteering can make a big difference in the lives of the poor and vulnerable communities we work with.

Humboldt State University
www.humboldt.edu

Under this project, UONGOZI is collaborating with an on campus organization “One World Community” under the leadership of Sean McCann, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of the US branch of UONGOZI based in California. The goal of this partnership is to mobilize the campus fraternity, the business and religious community within and outside California to donate their services through volunteering and resources both material and financial. So far, UONGOZI has received financial support and school supplies for orphans and vulnerable children through this partnership. We are looking for other like minded organizations and partners to build this initiative in order to strengthen our resource mobilization efforts.

Bemidji State University
www.bemidjistate.edu

Uongozi has been collaborating with Bemidji State University, USA over the last five years. The partnership revolves around a joint project “Tujijenge Summer Project” under which students visit the project sites in Kenya undertakes research projects on thematic issues ranging from food insecurity, land tenure, environmental degradation, HIV/AIDS, and governance. Besides, the students take part in community empowerment activities including “chapatti workshops” where they share their findings and recommendations. Upon successful completion of the research projects, the students earn transferable credits. We are looking for more academic institutions who are interested in collaborating with UONGOZI to expand this project.
